The mission of the University of Kansas GEAR UP Diploma+ program, a partnership with Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, is to help the graduating classes of 2023 and 2024 develop the academic skills needed to enroll and succeed in postsecondary education.

Recently Adopted Argentine Middle School, HCCGKC, provide a washer and dryer to the school, sponsored the 1st Annual Donuts for Dads. And, recruited volunteers for the Argentine Watch DOG program. Who is HCCGKC, We engage, connect and develop the Hispanic Small Business Community. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City is the voice for small business in the Greater Kansas City metro. We represent business of all sizes across 8 counties in both Kansas and Missouri.

Community Engagement program called WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students). The WATCH D.O.G.S.® program was created by a group of parents and educators in a single school in 1998, and has since grown to one of the largest and most respected family and community engagement initiatives in the country. Each year thousands of schools across the country utilize the WATCH D.O.G.S. ® program to reach out to the fathers and father-figures of their students and invite those men to take at least one full day off work during the school year and spend that entire day volunteering in their child’s school. Each year WATCH D.O.G.S. ® generates millions of in school volunteer hours in support of our students and educators.

1st Wednesday of the month UK Medical School teach a seminar on health and wellness for 7th grade students.

An 8th grade youth mentoring program by Walmart, and Sam’s associates, with the goal of planting the seed that hard work and education can provide for a better future.

Time Commitment: 1 hour per month for 8 months.

Mission

To motivate 8th graders to begin planning for future accomplishments. To engage a wide base of Walmart Stores, Logistics, & Sam’s management associates in the corporate mission to create opportunities so people can live better. To empower students, that regardless of their background, that this future is possible through education and hard work.
